About Us

Jenny is a website for women who read. Sassy was our feminist teenage touchstone: It spoke to us about real things like we were real people. Jenny is that for Gen X and elder Millennial women who don’t see themselves reflected in online media today. We cover style & beauty, relationships, health & wellness, and culture & entertainment.

We’re bored by Martha’s Stewart’s perfection—and don’t even get us started on Good Housekeeping. We’re so much more than an Instagrammable backsplash. We don’t want to be pigeonholed into single-category consumers. We want to read articles about what an outrage it is that we have both zits and gray hair and are sweating from our armpits for the first time in our lives. We want to know if we should ground our teenagers when we catch them smoking weed, now that it’s legal. We want to know how to pull off a solo vacation. We want to embody the power and audacity we feel in our 40s without dressing like the 1990s version of ourselves. And we want to laugh at all of it, because if we don’t, we’ll cry.

Jenny is for women over 40 who are now perimenopausal with kids of our own (or not), big life problems, small life dilemmas, and happy moments in between. Jenny is your mirror. We’re not going to whisper quietly over the hill. We’re gonna scream.

Since then she’s worked at websites including YourTango, Elite Daily, Woman’s World, and Best Life. When she was 12, she kissed the George Michael poster above her bed every night before she went to sleep.

Jenny exists because I grew up as a latchkey kid in the suburbs and am now wondering if I can grow old in New York City. Jenny exists because women over 40 exist. They read, they write, they’re cool, they’re smart, they’re interesting.
